Secondary Backup Pump
At ACM, we always recommend to our customers that they consider a backup system. The simplest type of
backup consists of a second pump. The float on this backup pump is positioned a few inches higher than
the primary pump. This way, if the primary pump should fail for any reason or if the water in the sump is
rising too fast for the primary pump, the backup pump will automatically come on, ensuring that your
basement remains dry.
Battery Backup
Because the pump runs on your home's electricity, it will not function during a power outage. This can be
especially problematic due to the fact that power outages often coincide with the heaviest rains. Because of
this, it is sometimes wise to consider a battery backup sump pump system. Be sure to ask about battery
backup pumps when speaking with your ACM representative.
